There are many cross channel ferry options, including the short sea crossings from Dover - Calais, Eurotunnel and Newhaven- Dieppe, the longer western crossings from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth to Caen, Cherbourg, St Malo and Roscoff and the long sailings direct to Spain, Portsmouth-Bilbao and Plymouth-Santander.

There are also two operators offering direct routes from Ireland to France, Irish Ferries sailing from Rosslare
to Roscoff and Cherbourg and Brittany Irish.
